I do so love Timothy Spall. And the glimpses I’ve had into his private life - which is obviously slightly less private with the BBC4 programme All At Sea which he appears in with his equally lovely wife Shane and his boat The Princess Matilda - confirms I’m probably right to do so.

The latest issue of the Creative Review is a special issue featuring the top twenty slogans of all time. Most that appear on the list are unsurprising, some are just disappointing (see “Every Little Helps”), my favourite though is the inclusion of “No-One Likes Us, We Don’t Care” - Millwall FC’s infamous song / chant which apparently first started life to the tune of Rod Stewart’s Sailing.

I’d like to think that Mrs Weir would respond in the same way as the wife of Gregorio de Falco were I to do something heroic.
“De Falco’s wife told Corriere della Sera the idea of turning her husband into a hero was ridiculous. “The worrying thing is that people like my husband who simply do their duty every day, immediately become idols, personalities, heroes in this country. That is not normal,” she said.”

Poor old Watford.

Poor old Watford.

Perhaps no great surprise that Mr Desmond doesn’t understand what the word ethics means.

I don’t wholly agree with everything Mr Hockney says however I think he’s right about the fact that “it’s the poetry you can’t teach”.

Deary deary me. Are things really that bad that even Labour have to needlessly attack the BBC.

Ah some Christmas cheer - sacking coalition MPs that behave in an “offensive and foolish” manner though could quickly become a rod for the own back eh ?
